What is FIRST?

FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a non-profit organization to spread the message that science, engineering, math, and technology are both cool and important to our society. Created in 1989 by Dean Kamen, the organization has flourished and expanded to vast proportions. Some of its programs include the FIRST Lego League, FIRST Vex Challenge, as well as the FIRST Robotics Competition.

What is our relationship to FIRST?

FIRST is the organization that started the entire program we are part of (the FIRST Robotics Competition) as well as the entire set of ideals that our team has come to embrace and spread. FIRST is responsible not only for the kits of parts that are sent to each team, but also for the competition rules, the game, as well as the competitions that take place in a given season.
